My Lost Love

Your memories wake me every morning;
Long before the sun rises,
Long before the world awakes,
Your eyes awakes my spirit ,
Your smile breathes new life in me.
I see the dark and bleak future;
Where humanity is at its worst.
I see betrayal, I see pain and anguish,
I see the world tear itself apart, yet you are there,
Besides me: watching, guiding and standing by me.
With every touch you comfort me,
When you hold my hand you assure me,
When you lay your head on my chest,
And look up at me you speak to my soul, without words,
You convince me that with peace I may rest.
But yet you are a bridge too far,
The Apple in the Garden of Eden,
The salvation the damned have never seen.
You are real yet an illusion, a silhouette in the mist:
Is this for eternity? is there an end to the pain?
