The Inevitability of Change

In the depth of darkness, amidst the eternal void;
There existed the vision and hope of the Almighty.
With His sheer power darkness turned to light,
Stars filled the vacuum,
Mellifluous voice filled the silence,
Life sprang forth in the heavens and the earth;
Through all these changes life was created with purpose.
Eons passed after the fall of mankind;
Wars, savagery, and death overcame humanity.
From his throne the almighty watched:
As hope turned to despair,
Love turned to abhorrence,
Felicity turned to wretchedness;
Through all these changes the purpose of life was lost.
The time then came for the Son to descend;
Into the chaos and bedlam that was earth.
To pay the ultimate sacrifice and endure the torment of Hades,
So that: judgment will lead to absolution,
Hatred will lead to brotherhood,
Damnation will lead to salvation;
Through all these changes the purpose of life was restored.
Despite the sacrifice many are still lost.
What of me, what is my purpose? Why am I here?
What of my actions? Will they be everlasting?
For these questions I have no answer.
Yet I walk through the folds of time and space,
In search of the denotation of my life;
It’s a treacherous journey that will forever change my being.
I find comfort in the status quo;
That provides a delusional environment of peace.
Fearful of all the consequences of changes I have to make:
I hide from the truth, I shun reality,
I adhere to the tranquil yet purposeless path,
Unworthy of the salvation that was granted to me;
As I lack the strength and resolve to pursue a life of rectitude.
Such is my hesitation to change and vacillation,
That I seldom make changes that brings forth bliss;
Even to confess my love:
Though captivated by her beauty,
Mesmerized by her eyes and smile,
Hypnotized by her words and lost in her Grace;
I am in reticence in her presence.
I look around the world and it is a reflection of me;
Fear of change drives mankind to apocalyptic horrors.
As fate drives man to an inevitable global community:
Bias leads to inequality,
Prejudice leads to segregation,
Hate leads to genocide;
Plunging the world into temporal cycles of destruction.
Even in matters that are trivial and inconsequential,
We lack the power to change and the faculty to decide.
In this dire time of hopelessness I pray:
Give us strength my Lord for we lack your fortitude,
Give us courage my Lord for we lack your valor,
Give us virtue my Lord for we lack your holiness;
For life without change lacks purpose and life without purpose is vanity.
